Hello there! I was a chemist for five years before I switched to software. My first program was a script that converted text files to CSVs. About as simple as code gets, and I loved it enough to go back for a CS degree at Oregon State while I was still in the lab.
I grew up in San Diego, studied chemistry at San Diego State, and live in Northern California now with my wife and our three pups. Kermit, Millie, and Rupert are unimpressed by all of this. When I’m not working I’m learning to play the piano. The rest of the time it’s hiking, traveling, trying new food, and reading.

A mini PC and a NAS in my office run about forty containers behind Tailscale: my own automation, the monitoring that watches it, media, backups. It started as one machine to stop renting cloud instances I wasn’t using, and it’s turned into the part of this I like most.
